With the fall of the 20th Dynasty, Egypt undergoes a new phase of its development, The Third Intermediate Period (c. 1069 – 747 BCE, TIP). In our continuing survey of Egyptian history, we are going to examine the how the High Priest of Amun effectively controlled Thebes (without the crown’s input) and how the Libyan dynasts began to exert their influence in the Deltine region. Once thought of a period without historical significance, we are going to challenge this assumption as we review the latest finds and developments.
About the speaker:
Julius Szekrenyes is the former president of the SSEA’s Calgary Chapter. He has had a life-long interest in Ancient Egypt and has taught Ancient Egyptian history at U. of C. Continuing Education for 16 years.
